Christmas is a time when people like to party, in fact the reason Christmas is turning commercial is because people do a lot of shopping so that they can wear their best for Christmas parties. There are many parties that happen on cruise liners and attending such parties speaks of a high class living. However Christmas is a time where you spend your day celebrating more with family and friends than with strangers. So if you can afford to rent a cruise liner for a day where you can exclusively have a party for family and friends, then that is well and good. But many people may not be able to afford this and celebrating the Christmas spirit was never about the money.

Alternatively you can keep a cruise theme at home and invite your family and friends. To make your house seem like a cruise ship, you can put posters of wide open crystal blue oceans on the wall and then cut some white paper in the form of railings to put on the walls. You can also feel free to record the sound of a cruise ship out in the ocean and play in softly at the party place. You could keep a ships wheel in the center of the room with a pair of binoculars hanging from them. Keep a beach bed or two out in the veranda so that people can have a sun bath as they do during a day cruise.

At the party, the best appetizers to be served that will suit the theme are champagne and caviar. It would also be good for the theme if you add some lighting just as they light up the cruise ship. To give the environment a Christmas and cruise feel, place ship wreaths with cellophane covered centers as though they were portlights, which are the round window on ships. The party can proceed as usual, with a few people playing music on their instrument and singing carols. The party can go through the whole day, right up to late evening after dinner and then close.
